What is a Spiritual Director?

• A Spirtual Director may or may not be a member of a traditional religion,
• A Spiritual Director may or may not be active in a faith community.

Lynne Cove's view of Spiritual Direction:

I view spiritual direction very holistically and from an interfaith perspective. One's spirituality is an integral part of being human. Spiritual direction does not just focus on spirituality detached from the whole of one's experience of life. When we are dealing with the whole person, spiritual development is one of transformation beautifully interwoven into the entire fabric of life. The Spiritual Director serves as a companion and as a witness, who will accompany you wherever you are led. Ideally it is a mystical process of listening where we come to know and honour ourselves and awaken more fully to the divine presence.
